Blank canvases and empty displays motivate me to create! I know, it's crazy, but it's how I operate. Enjoy!
Thank all of you who came to visit at Nampa Festival of the Arts, who appreciate my work, and were kind to choose a painting(s) to carry home. By sharing my creations with you I feel I have attained my long -life's journey to enrich your lives with peace and joy!
I explain in the blog '90 ta' nuttin' about this week' painting frenzy. Enjoy!
My recent booth 3 hours from home in 100 degree weather! Because I am prolific due to dyslexic and autistic complications, I paint fast and a LOT! I painted 6 live during this 2 day art in the park in Shoshone, Idaho.
From first display art setup end of college in 1967, through many years travel from 1976, over 14 states, setting up 40 shows a year, this video shows my most recent engineered art booths.
Each venue demands creative and versatile setups, unique to that event and encountered conditions. Art for me, emerges from overcoming dual neurodivergent traits: my brain processes information in a way that is not typical of most individuals. So I sacrifice some normal abilities for what has become an insane ability and passion to paint fast and a lot!
The original works of art, showcased here on my website vary in prices which appear to have ‘no rhyme nor reason’! I have always been prolific in my creativity. It is what I do. It is my life. At this stage of my career, in my tiny house, I paint every day. Not just one, but often several. My mind is filled with so many ideas and visions of pieces that want to be set free onto canvas. My goal these days, is to tackle that which I’m least comfortable at rendering. With each canvas panel, I set out with a particular goal, and work diligently to accomplish it, keeping in mind, the excitement anticipating the outcome. Creative play every day! Challenging my mind not only with my creations, but with my writing, posting, listing and all that goes into sharing these creations. Challenging my physical abilities with all the markets, shows and exhibits transport, set up and tear down. Yet another goal intended to ‘keep on going’. If a finished painting falls short of what I set out to accomplish, well, I say it’s ‘cheap’ as in $20! Sounds silly, I know! But I am the artist. It is my prerogative! The piece may be quite beautiful, but it wasn’t the outcome I was after. I don’t often rework a piece. I simply call it ‘done’ and move on to the next canvas. The pricing is relative to the goals I’ve set for myself to improve my painting skills. After several pieces, I will use the knowledge, techniques, paints and tools that I discovered while playing, and create a work that was worth all that experimental effort! There you have my artistic license in setting monetary value to my work. Everyone is unique in their enjoyment in music, art, fun and play. It may appear to you that something you consider extraordinary costs too little, while another which doesn’t appeal to you the ‘cost too dear’. You might now have an insight to the mysterious processes of my artistic mind!
